“China Tourism Day” successfully held at Bangladesh National Museum
The “China Tourism Day” promotion event, co-organized by the the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh National Museum, and the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh, was successfully held at the Bangladesh National Museum on Sunday (May 19, 2024).
The event featured speeches from Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh; Md. Kamruzzaman, Director General of the Bangladesh National Museum; and Abdus Salam Aref, President of the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh.
Over 200 representatives from the Bangladesh Tourism Board, major travel agencies, think tanks, cultural institutions, Chinese and Bangladeshi media, Chinese airlines, and Confucius Institutes (classrooms) in Bangladesh attended the event.
Counselor Li Shaopeng highlighted the close geographical and emotional ties between China and Bangladesh, emphasizing the evolving bilateral relationship. He invited more Bangladeshi tourists to explore China, including destinations like Beijing and Yunnan, to experience China’s rich tourism resources and vibrant culture. Li underscored the importance of tourism in fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.
Md. Kamruzzaman hoped the event would help the Bangladeshi people better appreciate the beauty of Chinese culture and tourism, thereby advancing people-to-people exchanges and friendly relations between the two countries.
Abdus Salam Aref noted that tourism and culture transcend national borders. He praised China as a vast country with abundant tourism resources, a highly desirable destination for people worldwide, including cities and regions like Beijing, Shanghai, Yunnan, Tibet, Sichuan, Guangxi, and Shaanxi. He highlighted China’s rich cultural heritage and traditional festivals, which are well-received by the Bangladeshi people. Abdus Salam Aref expressed hopes for more cooperation between the tourism authorities of both countries to promote inbound and outbound tourism, predicting an increase in Bangladeshi tourists visiting China for sightseeing, leisure, and business, thereby enhancing Sino-Bangladeshi friendship.
The theme of the “China Tourism Day” promotion event was “Explore China,Embrace Happiness.”
