Air China launches Dhaka-Beijing direct flight
Air China Limited, the national flag carrier of China, has launched direct flights on Dhaka-Beijing route on Wednesday (10 July) to meet the demand for visits between the two countries.
Inaugurating the flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan said the direct flight on Dhaka-Beijing route will add new dimensions to the expansion of trade between the two countries.
“The direct flight symbolises the strengthening bonds of friendship, cooperation, and development between Bangladesh and China. This connection will provide Bangladeshi citizens, businesspeople, and students with the ease of traveling directly to Beijing,” he said.
The minister also expressed hope that the new route will bring positive impacts across various sectors, including tourism. “It will add new dimensions to the expansion of trade between the two countries”, said Civil Aviation Minister Faruk Khan
He mentioned that currently there are direct flights from Dhaka to Kunming and Guangzhou in China. “Today, Air China has inaugurated its direct Dhaka-Beijing flights. Starting on 15 July, China Southern Airlines will also begin operating on the same route. In the future, we plan to launch direct flights from Dhaka to additional destinations in China. This will further enhance our connectivity,” he added.
Liu Yuan, Charge d’Affaires of Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, Air Commodore Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Group Captain Md Kamrul Islam, Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and HBM Lutfor Rahman, Chairman of Irving Group, Global Sales Agent of Air China in Bangladesh were also present on the occasion.
On the sideline of the program, HBM Lutfor Rahman, Chairman of Irving Group, Global Sales Agent of Air China in Bangladesh told the Current View that the operation of Air China will boost the trade and investment in Bangladesh.
He expressed optimism about the significant impact of Air China’s operations on the country’s trade and investment landscape.
Highlighting the pivotal role of Air China, Rahman emphasized that the commencement of Air China’s flights will provide a major boost to Bangladesh’s trade relations with China. “Almost 80% of the RMG (Ready-Made Garments) raw materials and industrial machinery are sourced from China. Therefore, the operation of Air China will greatly facilitate importers and businesses reliant on these essential supplies,” Rahman stated.
He further elaborated on the strategic importance of efficient air connectivity between Bangladesh and China, foreseeing enhanced convenience and cost-effectiveness for businesses engaged in bilateral trade. “Air China’s presence will not only streamline logistics but also foster stronger economic ties between the two nations,” Rahman added.
Rahman concluded by expressing confidence that Air China’s entry into the Bangladeshi market will catalyze investment opportunities, ultimately contributing to the economic growth and development of Bangladesh.
