Air China celebrates inaugural Dhaka-Beijing Flights, Paving the Way for Enhanced Connectivity
Air China marked a significant milestone with the launch of its Dhaka-Beijing direct flights, celebrated through a vibrant ceremony at a city hotel on July 15.
The event was graced by Muhammad Faruk Khan, Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, who attended as the chief guest, and Yao Wen, Ambassador of China to Bangladesh, as the special guest. Also present were Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman of CAAB, An Ming, Air China’s Country Manager for Bangladesh, and Lutfur Rahman, Chairman of Irving Group, the GSA of Air China in Bangladesh, HBM Shoave Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of of Irving Group, the GSA of Air China in Bangladesh.
The inaugural ceremony, held recently at a city hotel, saw dignitaries from the aviation sector, government officials, and business leaders come together to celebrate this achievement. The event underscored the importance of robust air connectivity in promoting cultural exchange and boosting economic cooperation.
An Ming, in his address, highlighted Air China’s commitment to providing exceptional service and seamless connectivity. He stated, “Our new Dhaka-Beijing route opens doors to extensive travel opportunities across China and beyond, ensuring a superior travel experience for passengers.”
HBM Lutfur Rahman expressed pride in Air China’s expansion into Bangladesh, emphasizing the route’s potential to boost business, tourism, and cultural ties between the two nations.
Currently, Air China operates four weekly flights (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) between Dhaka and Beijing. Flights depart Dhaka at 10:10 pm, arriving in Beijing five hours later, offering travelers a convenient direct connection between the capitals.
The celebration included cultural performances by Chinese and Bangladeshi artists, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of both countries. The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka also promoted its “Ni Hao China” campaign, aimed at fostering cultural exchange and tourism between China and Bangladesh.

HBM Shoave Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of Irving Group, the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Air China in Bangladesh, emphasized the transformative impact of this new air route.
Rahman remarked, “The commencement of Air China’s Dhaka-Beijing flights represents a pivotal moment for bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China. This route not only enhances connectivity but also opens new avenues for trade and investment opportunities.”
Irving Group, as the GSA of Air China in Bangladesh, continues to play a crucial role in supporting and promoting these flights, ensuring seamless operations and excellent service standards for passengers, mentioned Rahman.
The launch of Dhaka-Beijing flights by Air China is expected to further elevate Bangladesh’s position as a key hub for regional air travel and advance the nation’s economic integration with global markets, he added.
