View-exchange meeting held with participation of ATAB’s Sylhet region members
A discussion meeting on ‘Travel and Tourism Development: Role of Travel Agents’ was held with the participation of Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) Sylhet region members at Hotel Nurjahan Grand, Sylhet on December 3.
Civil aviation and tourism secretary Nasrin Jahan attended the meeting as chief guest where Additional Secretaries Abdun Naser Khan and Md Anisur Rahman were also present as special guest.
The meeting was presided over by Abdus Salam Aref, President of ATAB and moderated by its Secretary General Afsia Jannat Saleh.
Discussion was held on the role of travel agents in the development of travel and tourism, problems and solutions of the travel and tourism industry in Bangladesh, and the current status and development of tourism in the Sylhet region.
There was a discussion on operating additional flights from Sylhet to Jeddah and Medina considering the increasing demand of passengers in the region.
The travel agents and ATAB members of the region also highlighted the issue of increasing the facilities of the passengers of Sylhet region on Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
ATAB members discussed the issues of enhancing the beauty of the tourist places of Sylhet region, constructing roads, providing emergency services such as changing rooms, restaurants (toilets), breast feeding rooms and various developmental activities.
ATAB President Abdus Salam Aref announced the construction of a restaurant at a place provided by the government in any tourist center in Sylhet region under the management and financing of ATAB.
He also made a announcement of organizing a tourism fair in Sylhet with the aim of promoting and expanding tourism of the region worldwide.
Atab’s Executive Vice President Md Abdul Haque, Vice President and Chairman of Sylhet Regional Council Mohammad Ziaur Rahman Khan Rezwan, Deputy Secretary General and Secretary of Sylhet Regional Council Ruso Chowdhury and Former Secretary of Sylhet Region and Atab’s Sylhet Regional Council Abdul Qadir were also present in the meeting.
