Akkas Uddin Mollah reelected EC chair, Fakir Akhtaruzzaman vice-chair of Shahjalal Islami Bank
Mr Akkas Uddin Mollah has been unanimously reelected as Chairman of Executive Committee (EC) of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC in its 389th meeting of the Board of Directors held on January 8, 2025. In the same meeting, Mr Fakir Akhtaruzzaman was reelected as Vice-Chairman of Executive Committee of the bank.
Mr Mollah was born in a respectable Muslim family in 1954 at Nawabganj, Dhaka. After completing his education, he started an export business in readymade garments. Mr Mollah has long and creditable business experience of more than three decades and has established a number of garment industries by dint of his merit and hard work. Mr Mollah is the Chairman & Managing Director of Russel Spinning Mills Limited, PNR Industries Limited, Ekram Sweaters Limited, Tania Cotton Mills Limited, Nurul Islam Spinning Mills Limited, Goodman Pharmaceuticals Limited, Topaz Dresses Limited and Alalpur Agro & Fisheries Limited and the Proprietor of Russel Garments, Russel Apparels, Russel Washing Plant. In addition to his success in trade and business, Mr Mollah is immensely reputed for his contribution to the fields of education and healthcare services. He is the founder of Osmania Madrasa and Osmania Memorial Hospital. Mr Mollah is also affiliated with different trade bodies and social organisations. Presently, he is a member of BGMEA and BTMEA. He is also a member of Narayanganj Club. He has also travelled to many countries of the world for the promotion of his business.
Mr Akhtaruzzaman was born in 1956 in a respectable Muslim family at Panchrukhi, Araihazar in Narayanganj district and started his business after completing his education. He has long and successful business experience of more than three decades and has established himself as an icon of the knit garments industry. Mr Akhtaruzzaman is the Managing Director of Fakir Knitwears Limited, Fakir Eco Knitwears Limited, FKL Spinning Ltd., and Zaman Agro Fisheries Ltd. He has been awarded the National Export Trophy (Gold, Silver) several times and has also been selected as CIP by the government of Bangladesh for his contribution to the national economy. In addition to his success in trade and business, Mr Akhtaruzzaman is immensely reputed for his contributions to the fields of education and health. He is the founder of Shaheb Ali High School, Begum Anowara College, and Madrasah Darul Hadith Salafiah at Araihazar in Narayanganj District. Presently, he is the Director of Central Hospital Limited, Dhaka. Mr Akhtaruzzaman is also affiliated with different trade bodies and social organisations. He is a member of BGMEA, BTMEA, Purbachal Club, and All Community Club. He is a brave freedom fighter. He has also traveled to different countries of the world in connection with his business.
