New ACUs, ASUs, belt loaders added to Biman
As part of Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ ground handling capacity enhancement, seven air conditioning units, two air start units and nine belt loaders have been added to the airlines in the past one week.
Another four ambullifts, tow container pallet loaders, 12 container pallet transporters, four pushback tow-tractors, six passenger steps, baggage carts and 400 ULDs will be added to the ground service equipment fleet, said a press release on Tuesday.
Once the said equipment is added to the GSE fleet, the capacity for transporting sick passengers, fast baggage transport and delivery, and passenger boarding and disembarking will increase manifold, added the press release.
It is to be noted that the procurement process has been intensified to improve ground handling capacity focusing on the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
As part of this, 88 motorised and 650 non-motorized equipment are under procurement. In addition, 48 motorised and 350 non-motorized equipment have been purchased in the last two years.
The commissioning of the aircraft air conditioning units has already been completed, and the commissioning of the air start unit and belt loaders will be completed very soon. Once the commissioning is completed, the equipment will participate in operational work. Adding new equipment to the GSE fleet will make the baggage delivery process more dynamic.
It will be possible to reach the respected passengers quickly and ensure the flight’s timely departure. In addition, the aircraft air conditioning unit will provide a comfortable environment inside the aircraft while on the ground. The air start unit will also ensure the timely departure of the flight.
Above all, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has increased ground handling capacity and completed overall preparations, focusing on the third terminal.
