ATAB gets new body
The election of the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) was held on March 5 in which Gonotantric Front secured the historic win.
On Tuesday last, the elections for the 2023-25 term of Atab were held simultaneously in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet.
The polling of the Dhaka region of the Atab election started at 9.00 am and continued till 5.00 pm at the police convention hall amid enthusiasm.
Jinnat Rehana, Director General (Joint Secretary), Trade Organizations, Ministry of Commerce, MM Mostafa Jamal Chowdhury, Deputy Secretary, Trade Organizations, Ministry of Commerce, Mohammad Moshiur Rahman, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Directors of FBCCI and other levels of observers were present as observers of the election.
At the end of the election, the counting of votes was conducted in the presence of the Election Board and counting assistants of FBCCI in front of all the candidates and their agents.
The candidates of the Atab Gonotantric Front led by Abdus Salam Aref and Afsia Jannat Saleh won the full panel i.e. 17 in Dhaka, 6 in Chittagong, and 6 in Sylhet for a total of 29 EC member posts. Similarly, in regional committee elections, the Atab Democratic Front won 15 seats in Dhaka, 6 seats in Chittagong, and 6 seats in Sylhet.
For the first time in the history of Atab, Atab is going to get Abdus Salam Aref, the panel head and current secretary general of Atab Gonotantric Front as the youngest president and Afsia Jannat Saleh as the first woman secretary general.
After the announcement of the results, the leaders of the Atab Gonotantric Front in an immediate reaction reiterated their commitment to form Smart Atab and implement their declared program.
