126th Independence Day of Philippine observed amid enthusiasm

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Bangladesh commemorated the 126th Philippine Independence Day, in a grand manner this year with two, not just one grand celebratory event (as was done in the past) spread over two days at the Dhaka Regency Hotel, and highlighting the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage and culinary traditions while fostering stronger diplomatic ties with Bangladesh.

The grand celebration commenced with the traditional ceremonial flag-raising ceremony at the Philippine Embassy in the morning of 11 June 2024, with all personnel in attendance.

The Chief Guest, His Excellency Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MP, Minister of Textiles and Jute of Bangladesh, also delivered a heartwarming message on the friendship between the two nations. The formal program concluded with a Ceremonial Toast, presentation of a Token of Appreciation, and Ceremonial Cake Cutting, followed by cultural performances from the Filipino community organizations in Bangladesh.

On 12 June 2024, guests gathered for the Filipino Culinary Night. It featured Southern Philippine delicacies by renowned Chef Datu Shariff Pendatun. The diplomatic reception featured traditional Filipino dishes like sago at gulaman, pancit molo, chicken adobo, pancit palabok, beef kaldereta, and buko pandan, while the culinary night highlighted regional specialties including palapa of Bangsamoro, piyaparan of Maranao, kiyuning of Tausug, and sangkerat of Maguindanao. All these food offerings were savored with much gusto and appreciation  by Filipinos and their family members in Dhaka, as well as by their Bangladeshi friends.

The Embassy of the Philippines in Bangladesh conveys its gratitude to all participants and attendees for making the celebration memorable and meaningful. Embassy personnel join Ambassador Leo Tito L. Ausan, Jr. and Madame Agnes B. Ausan is fervently singing the Philippine National anthem.
