ATAB delegation meets Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser, urges him to break the air ticketing syndicate
The leaders of the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) met with Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser AF Hasan Arif. They met the advisor at the secretariat on Sunday (December 8) afternoon.
During the meeting, the advisor said that the current government has been established with the blood of countless martyrs. The aspiration of the brave martyrs is to establish a democratic, just and humane Bangladesh.
He praised the role of ATAB in expanding the country’s trade and tourism industry and urged it to play a more effective role in the coming days.
Congratulating the advisor on assuming the role of advisor to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the ATAB delegation stressed the importance of establishing a tourism-friendly policy and a peaceful environment, and called on the advisor to dismantle the syndicate of some airlines and travel agencies in air ticketing.
Citing the misdeed of some unscrupulous officials of some airlines and travel agencies, they advised the Civil Aviation Ministry to monitor this matter more closely.
In addition, the ATAB leaders requested the ministry to reform online travel policies and form a ‘monitoring cell’ to prevent unnecessary increase in ticket prices. The leaders also informed the advisor about ATAB’s initiatives to improve infrastructure facilities at tourist spots.
Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Nasreen Jahan, ATAB President Abdus Salam Aref, and Secretary General Afsia Jannat Saleh were present at the meeting.
