Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC has launched Shahjalal BanglaQR to facilitate faster, easier and more convenient digital transactions and support the country\u2019s transition towards a cashless economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The service was formally inaugurated on August 19, 2026, at the corporate head office of Shahjalal Islami Bank. Chairman of the bank\u2019s Board of Directors Mohammed Younus attended the event as chief guest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Managing Director Mosleh Uddin Ahmed spoke about the importance of Bangla QR and its role in promoting cashless transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the launch, Sarkar\u2019s Kitchen became the bank\u2019s first merchant customer to receive a Bangla QR code. Mohammed Younus handed over a replica of the Bangla QR to Md. Main Uddin Sujon, General Manager of Sarkar\u2019s Kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The launch ceremony was attended by Vice-Chairman of the Board Mohiuddin Ahmed and Directors Abdul Barek, Akkas Uddin Mollah, Khandaker Shakib Ahmed, Engineer Md. Towhidur Rahman and Fakir Maniruzzaman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among others, Additional Managing Director Md. Abdullah Al-Mamun, Deputy Managing Directors M. M. Saiful Islam and Md. Jafar Sadeq, FCA, SEVP and Company Secretary Md. Abul Bashar, Head of IT Division and Chief Technology Officer Khandker Bedoura Mahbub, Head of Anti-Money Laundering Division and Payment & Settlement Division Md. Abdul Quddus, Head of Card Division Md. Riad Hossain and In-charge of Public Relations Division and Chief Executive Officer of Bank Foundation K. M. Harunur Rashid were present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative has been launched in line with Bangladesh Bank\u2019s efforts to expand cashless and digital transactions, as well as the government\u2019s drive to promote digital payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bangla QR enables inter-bank payments through a single QR code, allowing merchants to accept payments without maintaining separate QR codes for different financial institutions. Transactions can be completed instantly through mobile devices, reducing the need for cash and making payment collection more convenient for merchants and customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The service is expected to be particularly useful for small traders and shopkeepers who are gradually adopting digital payment systems. QR-based payments also provide digital transaction records while reducing the risks associated with carrying cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bangla QR will also be required for merchants seeking to obtain and renew trade licences, according to the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Software Shop Limited (SSL), as the acquiring partner, and Technology Consultant Limited (CIBL), as the mobile app vendor, are providing technical support for the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Shahjalal BanglaQR service will be available to customers of all banks and mobile financial services (MFS) providers, including Shahjalal Islami Bank, from September 1, 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
