Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat on Sunday directed authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to reduce baggage delivery time and ensure greater transparency in handling passengers\u2019 luggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister issued the directives during a surprise inspection of the country\u2019s premier international airport, according to a ministry press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the inspection, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight on the Jeddah-Chattogram-Dhaka route landed at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Millat personally monitored the entire baggage handling process, from the opening of the aircraft\u2019s cargo hold to the handling and safe delivery of luggage to passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReducing the time required for baggage management for arriving passengers is extremely important,\u201d the minister told officials during the inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To expedite baggage delivery, he instructed the authorities to ensure proper synchronisation between the opening of passenger gates and aircraft cargo holds following the landing of flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also directed that ground handling personnel be deployed in a planned manner and remain ready before flights arrive to avoid unnecessary delays in baggage handling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To enhance transparency and keep passengers informed, Millat ordered the installation of live monitoring screens at the airport to display real-time information on the progress of baggage handling operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister also inspected several washrooms at the airport and closely monitored their cleanliness, saying maintaining hygienic facilities was essential for ensuring passenger comfort and improved airport services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director Kaiser Sohel Ahmed, and senior officials of Biman and CAAB were present during the inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against passenger harassment at the country\u2019s airports and has stepped up monitoring to improve baggage handling and other passenger services, the release said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
