Bangladesh and India have discussed introducing an open skies policy between the two countries and revising their existing Air Services Agreement to strengthen bilateral aviation cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The issues were discussed at a meeting between Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat and Indian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi at the minister’s office at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two sides also discussed waiving charges for the use of airspace, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, Trivedi expressed India’s interest in working with Bangladesh to develop the country’s aviation sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also highlighted the potential use of India’s locally manufactured Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft on Bangladesh’s airstrips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Millat said Bangladesh would coordinate with India where necessary to strengthen bilateral relations and establish Bangladesh as an aviation hub in South Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
