The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has successfully completed its first-ever Instrument Landing System (ILS) maintenance training course, aiming to strengthen technical capabilities and ensure safer aircraft operations, particularly during adverse weather and poor visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The five-day specialised training programme, titled “ILS Maintenance Course No. 1”, concluded today at the Civil Aviation Academy in Dhaka, said a CAAB press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organised under the academy’s training plan for the 2026-2027 financial year, the course began on October 11 with the participation of 14 officers and employees from different airports and relevant departments across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative was designed to enhance the technical expertise of aviation personnel responsible for maintaining critical navigational equipment and ensuring uninterrupted airport operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Instrument Landing System is a vital navigational aid that helps aircraft approach and land safely, particularly in challenging weather conditions and reduced visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regular maintenance, timely identification of technical faults and effective troubleshooting are essential to maintaining the reliability and operational efficiency of the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the training, participants received specialised instructions on ILS operations, routine maintenance procedures, technical fault identification and troubleshooting techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme particularly focused on developing practical skills to enable technical personnel to respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and minimise disruptions to flight operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAAB expects the training to strengthen maintenance capabilities at airports nationwide, improve the reliability of navigational aids and enhance overall aviation safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative is also expected to reduce dependence on foreign experts and external technical assistance by developing a pool of skilled local professionals capable of maintaining sophisticated aviation navigation systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAAB Headquarters Director (Communication, Navigation and Surveillance) Prashanta Kumar Saha and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Deputy Director (CNS) Kazi Shamsul Alam conducted the training sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aviation regulator described the successful introduction of the specialised course as an important milestone in expanding its technical training programmes and strengthening institutional capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAAB said similar training initiatives would help improve the technical competence of aviation personnel, ensure reliable operation of navigational equipment and support safe and efficient aircraft movements at airports across Bangladesh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
