Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. organized workshop on \u201cRisk-Based Supervision (RBS) Awareness Program for the Board of Directors\u201d at the Corporate Head Office of the Bank on 28 October 2026 under the initiative of Bangladesh Bank. The purpose of the workshop is to enhance the awareness and understanding of the members of the bank\u2019s Board of Directors regarding risk-based supervision. Mohammad Abdur Rab, Director of the Supervisory Policy and Coordination Department (SPCD) at Bangladesh Bank and Ms. Shirajum Munira, Additional Director of the same department, participated as speakers and delivered speech on risk-based supervision. The Director of the Bank & Chairman of Risk Management Committee Engineer Md. Towhidur Rahman presided over in the conference. Otherwise the speakers provided significant guidance on the RBS framework, the role of the Board, risk culture and Board evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among others the Vice-Chairman of the Board Fakir Akhtaruzzaman, the Directors Md. Sanaullah Shahid, Abdul Barek, Akkas Uddin Mollah, Khandaker Shakib Ahmed, Md. Moshiur Rahman Chamak, Abdul Hakim, the Independent Directors Md. Reazul Karim, Muallem A Choudhury and the Managing Director Mosleh Uddin Ahmed were present in the meeting. The Deputy Managing Director & Chief Risk Officer of the Bank M. M. Saiful Islam moderated in the workshop. Besides the Additional Managing Director of the Bank Md. Abdullah Al-Mamun, the Deputy Managing Director Md. Jafar Sadeq, FCA, the SEVP & Company Secretary of the Bank Md. Abul Bashar, the SEVP & Head of Internal Control and Compliance Division Mohammed Ashfaqul Hoque, FCA, FCS and the high officials from corporate head office & branches were present in the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is expected that such training programs will play a significant role in enhancing the Board of Directors’ awareness of risk-based supervision (RBS) in the banking sector and in fostering a practical understanding of the subject.
