The government today proposed an allocation of Taka 2,455 crore for the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry in the national budget for 2025-2026 fiscal saying it aimed to bolster domestic aviation and unlock tourism sector\u2019s untapped potentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the documents unveiled by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed out of the proposed amount, Taka 2,401 crore was earmarked for the ministry\u2019s Annual Development Programme (ADP), while Taka 54 crore was proposed for operational expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The revised allocation for the sector in the outgoing fiscal was Taka 4,878 crore against the original budgetary allocation of Taka 5,695 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The adviser proposed a reduction in customs duty rates from 3 to 10 percent on all types of jet fuel and aviation spirits expecting to reduce airfares and stimulate passenger growth, particularly for domestic carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVAT exemption has been granted for lease rent of aircraft used for passenger transport (as well),\u201d Ahmed said while the step is likely to enhance the operational capacity of both national and private airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
