Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited awarded scholarship to 350 poor meritorious students

Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited has awarded scholarship to 350 poor and meritorious students from different regions of the country. On 05th August 2023, the Cheque of the scholarship was officially awarded through a ceremony organized at the Corporate Head Office of the Bank. There were 100 (one hundred) scholarship students personally attended the program and received the scholarship money. The scholarship money of the remaining 250 scholarship students will be paid into their respective bank accounts within a specified period.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, Mohammed Younus was present as the chief guest at the scholarship awarding ceremony while the Director of the Bank and Chairman of the Bank Foundation Dr. Anwer Hossain Khan, MP presided over in the ceremony. The Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank and Chairman of the Bank’s Executive Committee, Akkas Uddin Mollah, the Director & Vice Chairman of Executive Committee Fakir Akhtaruzzaman were present in the program. The Managing Director & CEO of the Bank Mosleh Uddin Ahmed delivered speech at the program. Among others the Additional Managing Director of the Bank S. M. Mainuddin Chowdhury, the Deputy Managing Director Mustafa Husain, the SEVP & Company Secretary Abul Bashar and the Head of Corporate Division & SEVP Amjad Hossain were present in the program. The Head of Public Relations Division & Bank Foundation of the Bank Shamsuddoha (Shimu) moderated the program.

In the scholarship program Saikat Hossain, a scholarship student of Shahjalal Islami Bank in 2016 (now a successful entrepreneur in software programming) who recently passed out from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering from Rajshahi University of Science and Technology spoke expressing his feelings and gratitude to the Bank. Moreover, Sumaiya Akhter, student of Narayanganj Women’s College, Shimanta Haldar, student of Tofazzal Hossain Chowdhury College under Nawabganj Upazila of Dhaka district and Tofazzal Hossain Rifat student of Notre Dame College were spoke from among the students nominated for the 2022 scholarship. Among the 350 scholarship students, there are 170 Male students and 180 female students. A total of Tk. 1,90,00,000.00 (One Crore Ninety Lakh) scholarship will be given to 350 students who passed the SSC examination in 2022 and are currently studying at higher secondary level in various colleges in the country.

In the speech of Chief Guest Mohammed Younus the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, said that since 2006, Shahjalal Islami Bank has been providing scholarships to poor and talented students from different parts of the country. Shahjalal Islami Bank Foundation stands by the poor and talented students even in the current global economic recession. Inshallah, our helping hands will be extended in the near future in the field of cooperation of talented people. The Chairman of the Bank Mohammed Younus, urged people from all walks of life to come forward to ensure fair and quality education for everyone in the society.

The Chairman of Foundation Committee of the Bank Dr. Anwer Hossain Khan, MP expressed his hope that, all these achievements of the insolvent families would play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the country along with improving the students by getting higher education. The Managing Director & CEO of the Bank Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said that this scholarship provided by Shahjalal Islami Bank is not only financial support to the talented students but also motivation, courage and encouragement. The recognition given by the bank to the meritorious students is in recognition of the hard work that the students from the disadvantaged groups of the society have achieved in the past years. We want them to concentrate on their studies with best enthusiasm in the future and work for the development of their own, family, society and above all the destiny of the country. Educated population is the main driving force of the country. He urged the scholarship students to become good people besides getting the certificate and use their talent for the welfare of the country.
