CAAB holds first civil aviation training for ministry officials

The Civil Aviation Academy of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has organised its first-ever ‘Indoctrination Training on Civil Aviation’ for officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

The closing and certificate award ceremony of the five-day training programme was held on Thursday (October 2) at the Civil Aviation Academy.

A total of 27 ministry officials participated in the programme, which was conducted on September 18–19, September 25–26 and October 2.

Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddique, Chairman of CAAB, attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while Md. Zulkar Nayan, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, was also present.

The programme covered key areas of civil aviation, including civil aviation policy and procedures, flight safety and regulations, aviation security, air transport economics, and the operations and international obligations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

As part of the practical component, the trainees visited the Third Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the Air Traffic Management Center, the airport apron and the fire station to gain first-hand knowledge of airport operations.

Speaking at the ceremony, CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddique said a unified understanding and comprehensive knowledge of civil aviation among ministry and CAAB officials would strengthen coordination between the two organisations.

He said such coordination would also contribute to the development of Bangladesh’s aviation sector.

Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Mohammad Mahabub Alam, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, said the training provided ministry officials with a practical and integrated understanding of different aspects of civil aviation.

He said the knowledge gained through the programme would help officials perform their responsibilities more effectively and contribute to the development and expansion of the country’s aviation sector.

Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty, Director of the Civil Aviation Academy, said the training would enhance the knowledge and skills of ministry officials and enable them to contribute more effectively to the development of Bangladesh’s civil aviation sector in line with ICAO standards and recommended practices.

CAAB Member (Operations and Planning) Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan, Member (Administration) S.M. Lablur Rahman, Member (ATM) Air Commodore Md. Noor-E-Alam, Member (Flight Standards and Regulations) Air Commodore Md. Monirul Islam, Member (Finance) Mohammad Nazmul Haque, Chief Engineer Md. Zakaria Hossain and other officials were also present at the ceremony.
