Live baggage monitoring system installed at Dhaka airport

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has installed 32 CCTV cameras and 18 monitors across eight luggage carousels to make baggage handling more transparent and accountable, according to a press release.

The 65-inch monitors will show live footage of luggage being unloaded, transported to designated areas, sorted and delivered to the carousels.

CAAB said the system is intended to give passengers greater visibility into baggage handling operations and improve luggage security.

The authority expects the initiative to improve efficiency and accountability in baggage handling at the country’s main international airport.

It added that efforts to expand technology-driven, passenger-friendly services would continue to ensure that all travellers, including expatriate workers and both domestic and foreign passengers, could collect their luggage smoothly and without unnecessary hassle.
