The 14th edition of the Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair (BTTF) 2026 opened in Dhaka today (29 October), bringing together tourism stakeholders from 20 countries to promote Bangladesh’s tourism potential and strengthen international partnerships.

Organised by the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), the three-day fair is being held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) in Agargaon under the theme “AI-Powered Tourism, Sustainable Destinations”.

Dr Nurunnahar Chowdhury, secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, inaugurated the fair at 11am.

The fair will remain open to visitors from 11am to 8pm daily until 31 October.

Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and Nepal are participating as partner countries this year.

Speaking at the inauguration, Nurunnahar Chowdhury said Bangladesh’s tourism industry was entering a new era through the integration of modern technology and AI.

“Platforms like BTTF play a unique role in developing the country’s tourism sector, showcasing Bangladesh on the global map and promoting environmentally friendly tourism practices,” she said, calling for coordinated efforts from all stakeholders to advance the industry.

TOAB President Mohammad Hanif said the fair had developed into one of South Asia’s leading tourism platforms following 13 successful editions.

He said the event would help showcase Bangladesh’s tourism potential internationally, strengthen business ties with global partners and create new commercial opportunities.

Representatives from 20 countries, including Nepal, India, Singapore, the Maldives, the Philippines, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, China, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Thailand, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Azerbaijan, are participating in this year’s fair.

Organisers expect more than 60,000 visitors, over 220 exhibitors, more than 250 qualified buyers and over 2,500 trade visitors.
