The National Cultural Center is set to organize a day-long cultural programme titled “Akij Venture – Bangla New Year Festival 1433” in the capital on Tuesday, marking the celebration of the Bengali New Year.

According to a press release, the initiative aims to highlight the rich history, heritage, and traditions of Bangladesh, with a special focus on introducing the essence of rural Bengali culture to the younger generation and a wider global audience. The event is being organized in partnership with Akij Venture, one of the country’s leading business conglomerates.

The event will unfold in three phases across different venues in Dhaka.

Rally to Begin the Celebrations

The first phase will commence at 10:00 am with a colorful rally titled “Bangla Nabajatra 1433.” The procession will start from Muktangan in Purana Paltan and proceed to Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Organizers expect participation from thousands of people from diverse backgrounds, showcasing symbolic representations of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage.

Traditional Food Festival at Noon

The second phase will begin at 12:00 pm at Bijoynagar Road, where a traditional “Mejban” feast will be arranged. Participants and visitors will be served classic Bengali dishes, including rice, beef, vegetables, and sweets, at an affordable price. The venue will also feature a variety of traditional local food items.

Cultural Festival to Conclude the Day

The final phase, titled “Bangla Cultural Festival 1433,” will take place from 3:00 pm until evening at the same venue. The segment will include musical performances, folk songs, poetry recitations, theatrical shows, and discussions centered on Bangladesh’s history, heritage, and identity.

As part of the initiative, the National Cultural Center will also publish a Bangla calendar for the year 1433, aiming to revive a tradition that is gradually fading from everyday life.

Held under the theme “Our New Year – Our Culture,” the organizers expressed hope to continue hosting the festival annually in an environment that preserves authentic cultural values.

The National Cultural Center has invited people from all walks of life to participate in the celebrations and contribute to promoting the country’s cultural legacy.
