Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Honors July Martyrs, Injured Fighters

Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) organized a reception and discussion on August 11 to honor the family members of martyrs and injured fighters of the July Uprising, marking July Uprising Day 2026.

The program was held at Parjatan Bhaban in Agargaon, with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, MP, attending as the chief guest. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, and State Minister for Planning Md Jonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, MP, were present as special guests. Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar, ndc, also attended. The event was chaired by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Chairman Md Samimuzzaman.

During the program, the chief guest and special guests presented prize bonds and honor crests to the family members of the martyred fighters and injured July fighters on behalf of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation.

Speaking as chief guest, Minister Afroza Khanam said the martyrs and injured fighters of the July Uprising were brave participants in an important chapter of the country’s history. She said their sacrifices should not be remembered merely through formal observances; rather, their dreams and aspirations should inspire the building of a humane, non-discriminatory and dignified Bangladesh.

She also emphasized the government’s responsibility to support the families of the martyrs and injured fighters. Referring to the contribution of the July fighters, she said their sacrifices had played a vital role in bringing about political change in the country.

The minister said the tourism sector could make a significant contribution to economic growth, employment generation, national unity and cultural harmony. She stressed the need to develop a more inclusive, people-friendly, safe, sustainable and internationally competitive tourism sector in line with the spirit of the July Uprising.

She announced that July fighters would receive a 36 percent discount at Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation’s hotels and motels as part of commemorating “July 36.” She also said initiatives would be taken to create employment opportunities for July fighters and provide special discounts on Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat said he had been involved in the July Movement from its early stages and described the sacrifices made during the movement as an important part of the country’s recent history.

He said the experience of the movement demonstrated that development should not be measured only through infrastructure and economic indicators. Human dignity, rights, justice and equal opportunities should also remain central to the country’s development goals.

He announced that free entry would be arranged for July fighters at tourist attractions under the tourism sector. He also said initiatives would be taken to provide employment opportunities to July fighters in organizations under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

State Minister for Planning Md Jonayed Abdur Rahim Saki said the sacrifices of the July Uprising had placed a historic responsibility on the country to build a new Bangladesh. He stressed the importance of people’s expectations, equal opportunities and social justice in development planning.

He said the government was focused on implementing the aspirations of the July Uprising and called on everyone to fulfill their responsibilities from their respective positions.

Chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Md Samimuzzaman said honoring the July martyrs and injured fighters was not merely a formal event for the corporation, but an expression of gratitude, responsibility and national spirit.

He said Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation would work to develop a tourism industry that creates employment, harnesses the potential of young people, involves local communities and showcases the country’s history, culture and natural beauty to the world.

Samimuzzaman announced a 36 percent accommodation discount at various Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation hotels and motels for family members of the martyred July fighters and injured July fighters.

Five family members of martyred July fighters and five injured July fighters attended the event.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, representatives of different ministries, departments and organizations, officials and employees of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, representatives of private tourism-sector organizations, journalists and invited guests were also present.
