Major Reshuffle in Biman, Shahnur Ahmed appointed new GM of Public Relations
In a major administrative reshuffle aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced the transfer and reallocation of responsibilities for ten high-ranking officials.
According to an office order issued Monday by the Personnel Branch of Biman’s Administration and Human Resources Directorate with the approval of the Managing Director and CEO, the directives take effect immediately.
A key highlight of the reshuffle involves Shahnur Ahmed (P-36348), former General Manager of Airport Services. He has been transferred to the position of General Manager (Customer Service) and simultaneously assigned the additional responsibility of General Manager (Public Relations), complete with necessary financial and administrative powers.
He succeeds Mohiuddin Ahmed (P-36521), who previously held both the Customer Service and Public Relations portfolios and has now been transferred to the post of General Manager (Airport Services).
Expressing his commitment to his new role, Shahnur Ahmed stated, “I aim to work towards making the public relations and customer service functions of Biman Bangladesh Airlines more effective and dynamic. Cooperation from the media is crucial in this regard; journalists highlight various aspects of our operations and bring to light areas that require improvement.” He added, “I will prioritize coordination and cooperation with the media in the discharge of my duties. I hope to fulfill this new responsibility effectively with your cooperation.”
The sweeping organizational changes span multiple directorates and departments:
Bosra Islam: General Manager, previously attached to the MD and CEO’s office, reassigned to the office of the Director (Administration and Human Resources).
Iqbal Ahmed Aliza: General Manager of Store and Material Management appointed as General Manager (Cargo).
Khandaker Baki Uddin Ahmed: Deputy General Manager (Personnel) assigned additional responsibilities as acting General Manager of the Store and Material Management Department.
A.H.M. Shafiul Bari: General Manager of the Poultry Complex transferred to General Manager (Administration and Human Resources).
Md. Jahurul Alam: Deputy General Manager (Administration) reassigned as Deputy General Manager (Human Resources) with additional charges as DGM (Personnel).
Capt. Sheikh Abbas Hossain: Boeing-787 Captain given the additional role of General Manager (Planning) for the Corporate Planning and Training Directorate.
M. M. Arifur Rahman: Deputy General Manager (Accounts) assigned to the Corporate Planning and Training Directorate.
A. Z. M. Arif: Deputy General Manager transferred from BFCC to the Poultry Complex.
Biman sources noted that these strategic reassignments are designed to accelerate departmental workflows, elevate service standards, and further streamline internal management across the national flag carrier.
