Hospitality and Tourism Leaders Congratulate Alamgir Hossan on Historic SATA 2026 Win

Leading figures from Bangladesh’s hospitality and tourism industry have congratulated Md. Alamgir Hossan, Group General Manager of Platinum Hotels by SHELTECH, on becoming the first Bangladeshi to win the South Asia’s Best General Manager award at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2026.

The industry leaders extended their congratulations at a programme held in Dhaka on October 26, describing his achievement as a milestone for Bangladesh’s hospitality sector and a recognition of the country’s growing professional capabilities on the regional stage.

Hossan received the award at the SATA 2026 Grand Gala held on October 8 at Barceló Nasandhura Malé in the Maldives. The event brought together representatives of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka to recognise outstanding achievements across the region.

His recognition reflects more than two decades of professional experience in hospitality, spanning hotel operations, commercial strategy and business leadership. He began his career as a waiter at the former Hotel Sheraton in Shahbag, Dhaka, and gradually advanced to a senior leadership position through years of experience in the industry.

Over the past 22 years, Hossan has developed expertise in hotel management, operational efficiency and service delivery, with a focus on maintaining service standards, improving business performance and enhancing guest experiences.

Since joining Platinum Hotels by SHELTECH in 2017, he has overseen strategic and operational activities at Platinum Grand in Banani and Platinum Residence in Uttara. His responsibilities have included strengthening business performance, maintaining service quality and supporting the professional development of hospitality personnel.

The congratulations from industry leaders highlight the significance of his achievement beyond individual recognition. As South Asia’s tourism and hospitality markets become increasingly competitive, professional leadership, service excellence and skilled human resources are vital to strengthening hotel brands and meeting evolving guest expectations.

Hossan’s award brings recognition to Platinum Hotels by SHELTECH while highlighting the potential of Bangladesh’s hospitality professionals to compete and excel at the regional level. It also reinforces the importance of investing in professional development and building a skilled workforce to support the country’s expanding tourism and hospitality industry.
