Traditional food festival ‘Banglar Bhoj’ begins at Banani Field
Bangladesh’s traditional food festival titled ‘Banglar Bhoj’ begins on Thursday at the Mustafa Kemal Ataturk Park in Banani.
The festival is being held with the overall cooperation of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui, Advisor to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, announced the inauguration of the fair as chief guest this afternoon.
The fair will run from 11 am to 8 pm every day. The fair is supported by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Ministry of Industries, SME Foundation and Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation. More than a hundred entrepreneurs are being participating in the fair with traditional food from different regions of the country.
Besides, Farida Akhter, Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, will be present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Bangladesh Chef Conference tomorrow, Friday, and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, will be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the fair on Saturday. Mohiuddin Helal, Chairman of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Skills Council, will preside over the event.
More than a hundred entrepreneurs will participate in the fair with traditional foods from different regions of the country. Among the traditional foods of the country, notable ones are Bangladesh’s hilsa, Natore’s kachagolla, Tangail’s chamcham, Kushtia’s til khaja, Brahmanbaria’s chanamukhi, Sundarbans’ honey, and Kumilla’s rasmalai, among others. There will be arrangements for exhibition, marketing and enjoyment of various local foods.
