ATAB slams ‘malicious propaganda’ of Sabuj Munshi, relieves him from all committees
Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) has slammed Naria Travels and Tours owner Sabuj Munshi for spreading propaganda against the only trade organization of travel agencies approved by the government of Bangladesh and registered by the Ministry of Commerce.
In a press release, the organization said that the current executive committee of ATAB has a zero tolerance attitude against syndicates, black marketing, and hoarding of tickets without the names of passengers. ATAB member and owner of Naria Travels and Tours Sabuj Munshi has received a show cause notice from the government’s high-powered investigation committee on the charges of ticket syndication, anonymous ticket booking and hoarding, creating artificial crisis, and selling tickets at high prices, and an investigation is underway against him. Being a member of the ATAB executive committee, he sought cooperation from the committee president, secretary general, and other members to get rid of this issue. But after being realized that due to the zero tolerance attitude of the current ATAB executive committee against the immorality, he would not get any favor about the matter, Sabuj Munshi started spreading fabricated, misleading propaganda against the committee in anger and rage.
Meanwhile, during its 6th Executive Committee meeting held on April 26, ATAB unanimously relieved Sabuj Munshi of his duties from the Executive Committee, all Standing Committees, and other responsibilities.
It is worth noting that the current ATAB committee is taking a strong stance against high price controls on air tickets and anonymous block ticket syndicates, and is providing all-out cooperation to the government in controlling the price of tickets and eliminating the syndicates.
The current committee is firmly committed to protecting the interests of all members, the release said.
Mentionable that ATAB has been representing all legal and government-registered travel agent members of Bangladesh since 1976 for the overall welfare of about four thousand members. ATAB has also been operating smoothly as an associate and partner with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh, various departments and ministries for the smooth development of the aviation and tourism sector of Bangladesh.
