Oman Air Bolsters Connectivity with Daily Dhaka-Muscat Flights from May 1
In a strategic move to strengthen ties between Bangladesh and the Sultanate of Oman, Oman Air has announced the commencement of daily nonstop flights between Dhaka and Muscat starting May 1.
The Muscat-based carrier, which currently operates five flights per week on this route, confirmed the expansion in an official statement released on April 21. This capacity increase reflects the growing demand for both point-to-point travel and seamless transit options for the Bangladeshi diaspora and business travelers alike.
According to the new schedule, the Dhaka-bound flight, WY317, is slated to depart Muscat at 08:25 and arrive in Dhaka at 15:10. The return leg, WY318, will depart the Bangladeshi capital at 16:00, reaching Muscat at 18:50. To enhance the passenger experience, the airline will periodically deploy its flagship Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the route. This advanced aircraft offers a premium two-class configuration, featuring 30 luxurious business class seats and 258 spacious economy class seats, ensuring a high standard of comfort for long-haul travelers.
Beyond regional connectivity, the daily service is positioned to provide passengers from Dhaka with efficient onward access to 44 destinations across Europe, the GCC, Asia, and Africa. Key European gateways, including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, and Zurich, are now more accessible via the Muscat hub. Passengers can also enjoy the airline’s ARIA inflight entertainment system and benefit from the Sindbad loyalty program, which is integrated with the Oneworld Alliance.
The expansion also carries significant implications for regional trade. Oman Air continues to support bilateral commerce through its robust cargo operations, offering a belly-hold capacity of up to 14 tonnes on wide-body jets. This increased frequency is expected to facilitate a steadier flow of goods, particularly perishables and high-value exports, between the two nations, further cementing the economic partnership between Bangladesh and Oman.
