Minister, State Minister Call for Innovative Initiatives to Boost Tourism Sector

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam has called for innovative initiatives to make the country’s tourism sector more dynamic and profitable.
She said that due to a lack of expected progress over a long period, the time has come to elevate the sector through well-planned strategies and effective implementation.
The minister made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting with officials and employees of the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and the Bangladesh Tourism Board at the Parjatan Bhaban on Tuesday.
Afroza Khanam noted that the government is working to transform the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation into a profitable organization. She added that as the sector has not seen the desired level of development over the past 17 years, the current government is prioritizing the formulation of a comprehensive action plan.
Emphasizing the need for greater visibility, she highlighted the importance of extensive promotion and strategic branding of tourist destinations. In this regard, she instructed relevant officials to undertake new and innovative initiatives.
Speaking as a special guest, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat said effective measures would be taken to identify hotels and restaurants that have been operating at a loss for a long time and turn them into profitable ventures.
He added that on-site inspections would be conducted at the district level to assess conditions and implement necessary measures.
The State Minister also directed authorities to gradually replace the corporation’s existing vehicles with environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
A PowerPoint presentation outlining the history, vision, goals, and ongoing activities of the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and the Bangladesh Tourism Board was delivered at the meeting.
Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar, Chairman of the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Saima Shaheen Sultana, and other senior officials from the ministry, corporation, and tourism board were present at the event.
