Alamgir Hossan becomes first Bangladeshi to receive South Asia’s Best General Manager Award at SATA 2026

Md. Alamgir Hossan, Group General Manager of Platinum Hotels by SHELTECH, has been named South Asia’s Best General Manager at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2026, becoming the first Bangladeshi to receive the prestigious regional recognition.

He received the award at the SATA 2026 Grand Gala held on October 8 at Barceló Nasandhura Malé in the Maldives, attended by representatives of the region’s travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

Hossan began his career as a waiter at the former Hotel Sheraton in Shahbag, Dhaka, more than two decades ago. Over the past 22 years, he has gained experience in hotel operations, commercial strategy and business leadership, building a career focused on service excellence and professional development.

Since joining Platinum Hotels by SHELTECH in 2017, he has overseen strategic and operational activities at Platinum Grand in Banani and Platinum Residence in Uttara. His responsibilities have included improving business performance, maintaining service standards and enhancing guest experiences, while supporting the development of hospitality professionals.

The South Asian Travel Awards 2026 brought together hospitality and tourism professionals from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka to recognise achievements across the regional industry.

Hossan’s achievement marks a milestone for Bangladesh’s hospitality sector, highlighting the growing recognition of the country’s hotel professionals on the regional stage. His award also brings recognition to Platinum Hotels by SHELTECH and Bangladesh’s wider hospitality industry.
