Hotel Sarina Dhaka Champions Sustainable Hospitality on World Tourism Day 2025

Hotel Sarina Dhaka proudly celebrated World Tourism Day 2025 with a renewed commitment to sustainable transformation and responsible tourism. In keeping with this year’s theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” the hotel unveiled one of its most impactful environmental initiatives to date — the replacement of single-use plastic water bottles with eco-friendly glass bottles.

This forward-thinking initiative represents Hotel Sarina Dhaka’s continued dedication to environmental stewardship, reducing plastic waste, and enhancing guest experiences through sustainable innovation. By adopting glass water bottles, the hotel aims not only to minimize its environmental footprint but also to set a new standard of eco-conscious hospitality within Bangladesh’s tourism industry.

To commemorate the occasion, a special ceremony was held at the hotel, attended by senior management, department heads, and team members who have been instrumental in driving the property’s sustainability mission. The event was hosted by Syed Mehran Hussain, Director of Marketing, and featured inspiring speeches from Channa Ekanayake, General Manager; Mohammed Riyaz, F&B Manager; and Dhaithya Krawage, Executive Chef. Together, they proudly unveiled the new eco-friendly glass bottles, symbolizing a shared vision for a greener, cleaner, and more responsible future.

The ceremony also highlighted the collective efforts of Hotel Sarina Dhaka’s staff, who have worked tirelessly to integrate sustainable practices across multiple departments — from operations and procurement to food & beverage service. “At Hotel Sarina Dhaka, we believe that meaningful change begins with responsible action,” said Mr. Channa Ekanayake, General Manager. “This transition to glass bottles is a simple yet powerful step that aligns with our long-term vision of sustainable hospitality. We are committed to leading by example — ensuring that every guest who stays with us experiences comfort, care, and a conscious commitment to the planet.” Adding to his remarks, Syed Mehran Hussain, Director of Marketing, emphasized the broader purpose behind the initiative: “Sustainability is not just a trend; it’s a responsibility. Through initiatives like this, we are nurturing a culture of awareness and accountability within our team and our guests. World Tourism Day serves as a reminder that our industry has the power to drive real, lasting transformation.” The Food & Beverage team, under the leadership of Mohammed Riyaz and Executive Chef Dhaithya Krawage, has also integrated sustainable principles into daily operations —focusing on minimizing waste, sourcing responsibly, and promoting eco-friendly dining experiences.

With this transformation, Hotel Sarina Dhaka continues to strengthen its role as a pioneer in sustainable hospitality. The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and Goal 13(Climate Action), aligning the hotel’s operations with global sustainability priorities. Beyond environmental benefits, the move also enhances the guest experience, offering visitors a refined, health-conscious, and environmentally responsible alternative that reflects the values of modern travelers. As one of Dhaka’s leading five-star business hotels, Hotel Sarina Dhaka remains deeply committed to creating a positive impact — not only within the hospitality industry but also across the wider community. With every step towards sustainability, the hotel reaffirms its mission: to deliver world-class hospitality that cares for people and the planet alike. About Hotel Sarina Dhaka
